How much does a website cost in Cyprus?

The number of pages has little to do with it. What the site has to do once someone arrives has almost everything.

The short answer

A website that presents your business and takes enquiries is one job. One that takes bookings, sells online or answers customers on WhatsApp is a bigger one, with a bigger number. With OwnerDeck the first is €1,190 to build and €129 a month; every step up is priced below.

Every figure on this page is a price OwnerDeck publishes, not a survey of what other builders in Cyprus charge. Prices are in euro and exclude VAT.

What each kind of website costs

By what the site has to do, from the simplest up. The first figure is the build, paid once; the second is the monthly fee.

Shops, portals, apps, invoicing and table ordering are new to OwnerDeck. There is no delivered client example of them yet, so their scope is agreed in writing before any work starts. Table ordering has a working demonstration and no restaurant running it in service: the first installations are pilots and are quoted as such.

Ranked by how much each one moves a quote, from most to least.

Taking bookings or payments
Availability, deposits, refunds and failed payments all need handling. A site that takes enquiries costs materially less than one that takes money.
Selling products online
A catalogue, payments and delivery. The platform is proven; setting it up around your products is the work.
Connecting systems you already use
Accounting, calendars and booking software can often be connected, where they allow it. Whether they do is checked before anything is quoted.
Answering customers automatically
An assistant costs more to run as your volume grows, which is why it carries a monthly conversation allowance.

Changes it noticeably

Each extra language
Greek, English, Russian: translating is quick. Keeping every language current after launch is the real cost, because every change happens more than once.
Content you do not have yet
Photography and video are not in any package, so they are a separate cost. Gathering text and prices is usually what sets the launch date.
Memberships and user roles
Several kinds of user, members-only areas or offline use each change the quote.

Site includes all pages. About, services, prices and contact are quick, and not where a quote goes wrong.

Every site is built for phones and desktops alike. It is part of the build, not an extra.

What the monthly fee is for

A website keeps costing something after launch wherever it is built. Here is what that money pays for.

Hosting and domain
Infrastructure, SSL and the domain kept live.
Monitoring
Monitoring alerts us when the site needs attention.
Changes
1 hour a month on Site, more on larger packages. Unused hours roll into the next month.
Fixes
Faults in the work we built are put right.

Six questions to ask any web designer

Two quotes are only comparable once these are answered. Our own answers are beside each.

  1. Whose name is the domain registered in?

    Whoever holds the domain holds the address. If it is in the designer’s name, leaving means asking for it back.

    OwnerDeck: Yes. The domain, the content, the customer data and the accounts are yours and stay in your name. If you stop working with OwnerDeck, they go with you.

  2. What does the monthly fee cover, in hours?

    “Ongoing support” with no number cannot be checked by either side, and a busy month turns into an argument.

    OwnerDeck: Site includes 1 hour of changes a month, larger packages more. Unused hours roll into the next month; beyond that, changes are €60 an hour, agreed before any work starts.

  3. Is that price with or without VAT?

    They are different numbers, and a quote should say which one it is.

    OwnerDeck: Prices are in euro and exclude VAT.

  4. When do I pay, and how much at once?

    It decides how much you have handed over before you have seen anything working.

    OwnerDeck: 40% once the scope is agreed in writing and 60% on launch, or the balance spread over 6 months for 5% more in total.

  5. What happens if I stop?

    Notice, exit fees and who keeps the accounts decide whether you can ever leave.

    OwnerDeck: One month’s notice, on any plan. Your assets are handed over. There is no long contract and no exit fee.

  6. What is not included?

    Anything outside the quote arrives later as its own bill.

    OwnerDeck: No package includes paid advertising budget, professional photography or video, third-party licence fees where a tool you choose charges its own, rebuilding onto a different platform later at your request. External costs are shown separately in every quote: messaging usage, payment processing, paid software, app-store accounts and advertising spend.
